East Providence Police search for suspect in Santander Bank robbery

EAST PROVIDENCE — East Providence Police are on the hunt for the suspect in a robbery at the Santander Bank branch on Taunton Avenue Thursday afternoon, Oct. 16.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:20 p.m. Police units responded to the Santander location at 184 Taunton Avenue. As officers approached, dispatch received a 911 call which confirmed that the bank had been robbed and the suspect had fled.

Police began a street by street search of the area, but did not locate the suspect. The initial investigation has revealed that the suspect was armed with a handgun and that an undetermined amount of money was taken.

The suspect description is as follows: male, unknown race or age, between 5-feet-4 and 5’10″ in height, with a medium build. The suspect was dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt, tan pants, and had his face concealed.
