Joan W. (Wilkinson) Miller, 81, passed away Friday, October 31, 2014. She was the wife of the late Chester Miller and former wife of Eugene Silva, Sr. of East Providence.
Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late John J. and Annie (Pailthorp) Wilkinson. Joan was a school bus driver for 17 years and was the first female driver for the city of East Providence. She lived in Warwick for the past 26 years and volunteered as a surrogate grandmother to less fortunate children in the Warwick area. She also truly enjoyed her family, friends, the outdoors and her cat QT.
She is survived by two sons, Eugene Silva, Jr. of East Providence and his girlfriend Darleen Morris, Michael Silva and his wife Becky of Johnston; one daughter Cheryl Laughter and her husband John of Johnston. She was the grandmother of Carson and Emily Laughter, Timothy, Kylee and Kenzee Silva; sister of Jack Wilkinson, Lynn Sylvester, Mary Parcells and the late Ann Wilkinson.
Visitation Saturday, Nov. 8, from 11 a.m.-noon immediately followed by a service in the Tucker-Quinn Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave. (Rt.44), Greenville. Interment will be private.
