EAST PROVIDENCE — The busy throughway used to connect Route 6 in Seekonk to the Wampanoag Trail in East Providence and the rest of the East Bay is in the process of being resurfaced.
Monday, June 2, crews from D’Ambra Construction began laying new tar on the Mink St. and River Road North and South (Route 114A), from the Trail (Route 114) to the Massachusetts state line.
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation tells motorist to expect alternating lane closures in a moving operation for paving, which is scheduled to take place at least through 4:30 p.m. Monday.
As of mid-afternoon, work was taking place on the right-hand travel lane leading in Massachusetts on Route 6 from the Trail. East Providence Police were stationed at the entrance leading off 114 towards 114A. Drivers attempting to gain access to Route 6 from Rhode Island were using the parking lot at the Mobil “On the Run” located at 1001 Wampanoag Trail.
